History
Stanton
Funeral Service has been a family-owned entity since 1919, when it started
as a storefront funeral home to service the Watertown community. John
J. Stanton was a lifelong resident of the Belmont area. His son, William,
and grandson, Richard, are also lifelong residents of the community.
William
G. Stanton joined his father in the business in 1947, upon his return
from Navy service following World War II. William moved the Stanton facility
five blocks down the road, maintaining the first and oldest funeral home
in the area. He has been followed most recently, in the family tradition,
by his son Richard J. Stanton, representing the third generation of the
Stanton family. Richard attended Merrimack College and New England Institute
of Applied Arts and Sciences. For three generations the Stanton family
has been dedicated to providing professional service to those in need.
Services
Offered
Traditional
Funerals
A
traditional funeral is a service that is usually preceded by a visitation
and viewing, followed by a funeral service and burial, entombment, or
cremation. Traditions vary by religion and ethnic origin. Stanton Funeral
Service caters to all faiths. Funeral services are tailored to meet the
preferences and expectations of the loved one's family and friends, as
well as to the preordained desires of the deceased. They can be as personalized
and unique as those for whom the service is arranged.
Cremation

Cremation
services include several choices and options for personalization and memorialization.
These services may either precede or follow the actual cremation and often
assist friends and relatives with the grieving process by providing an
opportunity to pay their final respects. Services often include the following

Our staff is available
24-hours a day to answer a call, whether it is at home or in a health
care facility.
After
Care
Our services extend
to providing our families assistance with regard to filing for Veteran's,
Social Security, and life insurance benefits. Additionally, we provide
helpful check lists on support services available, things that need to
be done after the funeral, etc. All deceased are memorialized by a reforestation
effort, whereby the Stanton Funeral Service dedicates a tree
to be planted in their honor. Loved ones receive a certificate following
this event.
Funeral
Planning with Pre-Arrangement and Pre-Payment
Funeral pre-arrangement
is not difficult, nor long in duration. Most of us know our preferences,
yet neglect to share that information with loved ones. Pre-arranging a
funeral can offer a lifetime of comfort to loved ones who typically remain
guessing what the deceased would have wanted. Contact a member of our
staff and we will make ourselves available to discuss pre-arranging and/or
pre-payment.
International/National
Transportation
We
are experienced in arranging for transportation to or from the fifty states
and foreign countries.
Funeral
Planning
Pre-Planning
and Pre-Funding
Funeral pre-planning
is an important decision that offers a lifetime of comfort. Many folks
in our community have taken this important step to provide the greatest
gift of love for their families - the gift of not having to make all of
the decisions on one of the worst days of their lives.
